MPS jigsaw blades

MPS Blades are leading producers of high quality cutting - the masters in sawing technology - with long lasting blades for all types of cutting machinery

MPS, a German manufacturer of top class quality blades, is one of the largest manufacturers in the jigsaw and sabre saw sector. They offer a large selection of various blades for a variety of cutting and sawing applications.

Founded by Martin Pott in 1987, Martin Pott Sägen (MPS) have a mission to offer high-quality - highly economic - saw blade products. Today the three-letter acronym emblazons a company which is defined by innovative thinking and ranks amongst Europe’s leading producers of sawing technology, while also exporting to markets around the world.

MPS are firmly committed to their promise of quality as expressed by “Made in Germany”. It’s in Germany that they have the means to develop a steady stream of innovative solutions for their production methods and products. All their materials and production methods meet the most demanding requirements, the first-rate steel varieties they use come from Germany, Austria and Sweden. All perfectly made and shaped in their Wasserliesch plant using patented laser technology.

The most diverse areas of work require their own individual range of steel qualities. This guarantees the best possible material performance over long life spans. For this reason, the choice between CV, HSS, Bi-Metal and HM models are carefully evaluated per the intended purpose of use.

◊ High-alloyed Chrome Vanadium steel is used for work on softer materials such as wood, fibreboard and synthetic materials.

◊ High Speed Steel, hardened in a vacuum furnace, is used for work on harder material such as metal (iron and steel), aluminium and nonferrous metal, plus Carbide, high abrasion resistance is utilized for long life.

◊ Bi-Metal 65-67 HRC is the perfect combination of flexibility due to the spring steel which despite bending, always returns to its original form and durability, thanks to the HSS strip alloyed with Cobalt, which is welded on. Bimetal is heat treated in a vacuum furnace. Suited to work on wood and metal.

The reasons for needing so many different blade types are naturally numerous, but the material to be sawn plays a particularly important role. Whether it is a hard material such as iron, Nirosta steel (stainless steel), hardwood or tile or a soft material like softwood, plywood, synthetics or cork that is being sawn, this determines what material the blade should be made of, along with tooth spacing, what strength of teeth and which tooth geometry are the most suitable.

The second factor to be considered is the thickness of the material which determines the length of toothing on the blade. The cut-quality desired also plays a pivotal role in this decision-making process. Here, the appropriate blade is determined depending on whether a rough cut is sufficient or if a finer cut is required, whether angle precision is necessary or if contours or curves are being sawn. One further aspect of the material, which can be a decisive factor, is its form, e.g. metal profile or material combination – the so-called sandwich material.

MPS Jigsaw Blades

The jigsaw works along the same principles as a sewing machine. The cutting speed of the upwards/downwards movements can be adjusted in degrees or can be regulated electronically. The cutting speed ranges from 200 to 3000 cut/minute.

When using harder materials, for example metals, lower cutting speeds are used. With softer materials like woods, higher cutting speeds are more appropriate.

The clamped sawing blade is designed to cut during the upward movement. This is aided by the so-called pendulum cut. The pendulum cut ensures that the blade is pressed against the material with extra force during the upward movement. In this way, it is possible to saw faster, while using the same amount of energy.

MPS manufacture and have every conceivable blade for all type of brands, there is truly nothing they don’t stock, one cannot fault the brand this is a perfect example of a quality made in Germany brand, the right saw blade for the product you are cutting is crucial, not only does it give you a better clean cut but it is easier to cut and less effort is required.

When cutting special materials or in fact any materials it advisable to consult your local store on what blades will do the job best, be it for a jig saw or sabre saw, alternatively you can our visit the www.VermontSales.co.za website, which will supply you the information or assist you in selecting the correct blades for the job.
